Engaging youths in budget advocacy

Public participation is one of the national values and principles of governance entrenched in Article 10 of COK.

It is a core element in budget formulation and implementation processes that places the citizenry at the centre of setting priorities captured in the county integrated development plans, annual development plans, and auditing the development projects and programs.

It ensures that policies being enacted reflect the needs and will of the people and therefore makes a society inclusive and equitable; The people are major stakeholders in decision-making.

It is an aspect that the current constitution has put a lot of weight on and emphasis as far as governance and leadership is concerned.

One of the budget champions, Alex Mugendi had the opportunity to join other budget facilitators and champions, Chief Officers and CECMs in charge of Treasury and Economic Planning from Central, Nairobi and Eastern at Roswam Hotel in a two-day workshop of sharing invaluable insights around this conversation.
