On 24^th November 2025, the NEC Regional Budget Hub had an impactful and promising Roundtable engagement in Makueni County. NEC-HUB Coordinator Nelson Maina and Murang’a County Budget Facilitator Regina Mureithi joined Makueni’s strong team, including Makueni County Budget Facilitator Naomi Kim and Budget Champions Peter Jnr Vetelo, Stella Royale and George Mutiso.

Makueni team is fiercely advocating for Climate Action in budgeting, as 9/10 people in the county rely on rainfed agriculture. The discussion went deep into ensuring Persons with Disability, Youth and Women are actively included in the budget process. The local team successfully brought key officials to the table, including the Directorates for Youth Affairs, Budget and Economic Planning, Environment and Climate Change.
